Hi friends! 👋
I'm going to outright say it: I don't book vacations like an online Shopify account.
And if you've ever DM'd a travel agent (hiiii 👋) saying "Can you get me pricing?" — you're not wrong for asking. So many in the industry do work that way.
That's just not how I work. Here's why.
Don't worry, the travel industry trained you to think this way
The internet has made travel feel transactional. Search, compare, click, BAM — confirmed. Countdown to the beach is ON.
Websites like Expedia have taught you: the best trip is the lowest price (how many of us have sorted a list from lowest price to highest?), all resorts are basically the same and 4 and 5 star all inclusives are true luxury, and a travel agent's job is to confirm what you found and beat the price.
Little secret, and I say this with love: that mindset is exactly how people end up on trips they regret.
Why "just send pricing" is a problem
When you skip the conversation and go straight to pricing, a few things happen. You're choosing based on price, not experience. You're missing context you don't even know is there. You're trusting photos and reviews that don't tell the full story (and I can assure you "5 stars" means literally nothing in terms of service). You're hoping everything works out instead of designing it intentionally for you.
I get it. You're excited. You want answers fast. Amazon and Expedia have trained us to expect immediate results.
That's exactly why I slow it down.
Why I ask for a quick consultation
When I say "Hi! I completely understand you're excited. I'd love to hop on a quick call to make sure this resort fits your needs — your PTO is precious!" — I promise I'm not adding resistance. I'm protecting your vacation.
Because in 10 to 15 minutes I can uncover things no website ever could: what you actually want your trip to feel like, what's going to annoy you by the second day, what matters more (food, service, location, vibe, space), what you think you want vs. what will actually make you happy, and whether the location can truly take care of your needs (accessibility, allergies, sensory, all of it).
Not all vacations are created equal
Two resorts can look identical online and feel COMPLETELY different in real life. Same destination, same price range, two wildly different experiences.
Why? Because the details matter. How the resort handles crowds. What the energy is like (so important for my sensory sensitive clients). The food safety protocols for celiacs. The room locations and layouts for those with mobility needs. These policies will directly impact your experience by A LOT.
These are the things you don't see on Expedia. These are the things I'm thinking about for your vacation. Because it matters to me. And I know it matters to you.
The trap of the "cheap vacation"
Real talk for a second: you get what you pay for.
Sometimes the lowest price comes with trade offs you didn't realize until you're there. By then, you can't undo it (unless you're changing your flights to get outta dodge early).
This is why I will always have the honest conversation with you. Even if it means saying: "Maybe we should wait a few months and do this right, so it's really what you want."
I'm not here for one booking. I'm here to make sure you come back saying: "YES. That was EXACTLY what I needed."
Transaction vs. experience — the real difference
If you want someone to match a price, click buttons, and send confirmations — there are plenty of websites that do that. (And a lot of advisors, unfortunately.)
But if you want someone who asks insightful questions, curates your trip with intention, helps you avoid the mistakes you didn't know you were making, and has your back if something goes wrong — that's where I shine.
Final thoughts
You were never meant to book your vacation like a drive thru. You're not getting a #4. (You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris? They call it a Royale with Cheese.)
This isn't MickeyD's. I was never meant to be your order taker.
So yes — I require a consultation. Because your vacation deserves more than a transaction.
If you're ready to start the conversation, I'd love to get some time on the books to chat. It won't take long. It will be worth it. Promise.
I've got you. 💗
